The Bissell ProHeat 2x series of electric carpet and floor washers are available now in five models of varying price and accessories, Bissell ProHeat 2X They have received mostly favourable reviews from professional critics and consumers alike over the past few years. These machines are considered simple enough to use and worth the prices, though now and then minor flaws have been observed that can be addressed, customarily, by simple adjustments or steps.

The basic model, the 9200, comes in two offerings, the so-called Blue Illusion and the 9200-T, for titanium, with the major difference being that the 9200-T includes a second bare floor attachment. Otherwise, these machines retail below $250 and are considered ideal for homeowners or renters who want only their carpet and floor care issues addressed. Both machines feature ten-row revolving brushes and heavy-duty bladders separating clean from dirty water. Both machines offer options for choosing cleaning solution levels or for performing rinse-only cleaning. They also include a port for optional hoses and hand-held cleaning attachments for above the floor.

The Select model, model 9400, considered Bissell’s mid-price model, features a built-in water heater than can raise the tap water temperature as high as 25 additional degrees. This model also features a twelve-row revolving brush, a nine-foot upholstery hose, and a power-driven TurboBrush hand attachment similar to that included with several Bissell upright vacuum cleaners. It also features a three-inch bristle brush tool aimed at difficult stains, a six-inch-wide staircase tool, and an upholstery sprayer.

The Select Pet, which is less expensive than the Select, is aimed specifically at pet owners, as the name implies, with the 9400-4 variant including a Microban coating that protects the machine overall from bacteria and mildew and other infectants pet messes are known to leave or arouse. Users who want the bare-floor tool standard with the Select 9400 must buy one separately; otherwise, there are no other significant differences between the two except, interestingly, the lower price.

The top-of-the-line ProHeat 2x model is the CleanShot machine. Its basic features are the same as the other ProHeat machines, but the CleanShot feature that gives this model its name may make it worth the extra cost even for lower-budget homes. The CleanShot has a flow gauge on the back, spinning when the power trigger is activated and both tanks hold liquid, and stopping when the machine is either spent of clean water or cleaning formula. This gauge operates only when the trigger does. The CleanShot also includes a DryAire, a device blowing warm air from the machine’s rear and aimed at making carpet or floor drying times shorter.
